We care. We fight. We show up. We vote.
AFT members have a vibrant history of engagement in our communities and in the electoral process - whether it’s volunteering to get out the vote, running for public office, talking to fellow union members, serving as a delegate to a party's national convention or voting in higher numbers than the general public.
We have regular National AFT Days of Action, which include virtual phone banking opportunities, social media efforts, and more. Additionally, we respond to local, state, and federal issues when needed, and we're always hoping to engage more members in this important work.
Join our bi-weekly phone banks to engage AFT members across the country as we advance our policy priorities and stand up for our values.
AFT members have a vibrant history of engagement in the public policy process - whether it’s educating members and the public about issues, volunteering to get out the vote, running for public office, talking to fellow union members, serving as a delegate to a party's national convention or voting in higher numbers than the general public.
MARCH 25 TOPIC: Asking US Senators to Pass the For the People Act
The For the People Act is a comprehensive and urgently needed, democracy reform bill that covers three main areas: campaign finance, government ethics laws, and voting rights. The package of reforms would protect and strengthen American democracy by strengthening voter registration and voting processes, limiting large corporations influence over elections and giving more voice to those who have been silenced too long.
The PRO Act is the cornerstone of the AFL-CIO’s Workers First Agenda. If it passes, it would:
Empower workers to organize and bargain.
Hold corporations accountable for union-busting.
Repeal “right to work” laws, which were created during the Jim Crow era to keep White and Black workers from organizing together.
The PRO Act is our first step to 'Build Back Better with Unions.' Tell your Senators and member of Congess to vote “yes” on the PRO Act.
